Table Tennis
Rules:
1. Competing teams should have at least 2 players (no gender preference) to play singles match. 2. A team can have substitutes but substitution is not allowed on a given match. 3. A 10-minute grace period will be given to teams to show up on their respective match schedule. Failure to show up on the grace period will give the team that is present the win score of 1. |
4. For all games…
a. A rally setup will be followed (i.e. a point is scored after each ball is put into play and will be awarded to the team that has the ball properly returned on the opponent side of the table)
b. Each match will be played best 2 of 3 sets. First to reach 11 points wins a set.
c. If scores reach to 10-10 a team should get 2 points in succession to win a set.
d. Service rules
i. Proper legal service must be followed – the ball must rest on an open hand palm / must be tossed up at least 6 inches and struck so the ball first bounces on the server’s side and then the opponent’s side.
a. If the serve is legal except that it touches the net (called a let serve) then the service will be repeated. On the second try if it is still a let serve then the opposing team will be awarded with a point and service will resume to the next player to serve.
ii. A toss-coin setup will be done to determine the first team to make the serve, then first service will change on the second set, and so on.
a. Each team will serve for 2 successive game points. Service from the server needs to bounce once from the service size and must land at least once on any area of the receiving court.
iii. If a game reaches a 10-10 score, each side will just be honored with a single service.
5. Team score
a. Each team will have 2 players playing separate matches.
b. A team will get a team score of 1 if they get to win all 2 singles match or in case of a draw then they get to win on a final doubles match.
